Product ID: 8460THE TRADITIONAL RAILWAYMAN'S WATCH - CHROME FINISH - QUARTZ
In the mid-1800s, as the Victorians started to expand the railway system throughout the United Kingdom, it became necessary to establish a standard time. This was known as 'British Standard Time', and it was introduced across all railway areas, so that trains were then able to run on a fixed timetable.
Once timekeeping became important, the Station Masters needed to have an accurate means of ensuring the trains departed on time. Most chose to have a "Hunter" pocket watch, as it had a cover to protect the glass covered dial. This cover could be easily opened to see the correct time.
This pocket watch features a quality quartz movement. It comes with a matching Albert chain that has both a button hole fitting and one for a trouser pocket, and is presented in a smart case.
12 month guarantee.
Also available in a gold or chrome finish with mechanical movement.
