We’re thrilled to share the news that Southern At War is making a comeback at The Bluebell Railway in 2024!

This highly anticipated event will transport you back in time, this year celebrating and commemorating the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord. You won’t want to miss out on a weekend filled with re-enactors, classic vehicles, displays, stands, and more. Get into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up in your finest period clothing and immersing yourself in the fun.

Accessibilty:
We are pleased to offer a specially adapted area for wheelchair users on some services during this event.

Accessible toilets are available at each station, but we regret we have no "Changing Places" toilets, or accessible toilets on our trains

Tickets: We are pleased to offer single day tickets and a selection of discounted two day tickets which cover Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday. For two day tickets, please choose the first date of your visit on the calendar before you choose your ticket type. Please note that a child ticket covers ages 3 - 15 years. Younger children can sit on laps and are free.

Advance tickets - available to purchase until midnight the day before travel. 

Upgrades - Rover Tickets are for 3rd class travel only (with the exception of BPRS LIFE Member Rovers which are 1st class). Upgrades to 1st class are available at station booking offices on the day of travel (subject to availability).

**Carer - Must be purchased within a transaction containing at least one full rated fare for an adult or child. 


Discounts:

  • Proof of discount eligability will be required to be shown on the day of travel
  • National Rail staff /HRA discounts are available on the day only  

Facilities:

  • There are toilets at each of our stations and on some of these services (dependant on carriages on the day)
  • Food and drink is available to purchase at all of our stations

Parking:

  • Sheffield Park Station - free parking at the station
  • Horsted Keynes Station - free parking at the station
  • Kingscote - NO parking is available at this station
  • East Grinstead - free blue badge parking (5 spaces). Public parking in East Grinstead

Tickets:

  • Children under 3yrs (and babies) travel for free and don't need a ticket
  • Tickets are valid on any Branch Line service on the date(s) specified on the ticket only
  • Advance tickets are valid for 3rd class travel only - 1st class upgrades are available on the day from the station bopking office (subject to availability)

Seating: 

  • This service offers free seating
  • customers with 3rd class tickets are free to seat themselves on the trains in any 3rd class seat 
  • customers who purchase a 1st class upgrade on the day may seat themselves in any 1st class seat

Dogs:

  • We are pleased to welcome dogs on this service - please keep them on a lead and don't allow them on the seats

Prams/Pushchairs/Buggies:

  • Prams/pushchairs/buggies are welcome on this service
  • Foldable/collapsible prams/pushchairs/buggies can be taken into the carriages and stowed by your seat
  • Non folding/collapsible prams/pushchairs/buggies can be left on the platform, please speak to our station staff at the departure station for futher detail

 

Booking information

  • £1.95 transaction fee will be added per booking for any tickets purchased online.
  • eTickets are dispatched by email free of charge. You will receive 2 separate emails, a booking confirmation and your tickets.
  • If you purchase an eTicket, please print off a copy of your eTicket and bring it with you on the day of travel. If you are unable to print off your ticket and wish to bring it with you on a smartphone or tablet, it is advisable to bring a screenshot as mobile signal at some of our stations, and on our trains, is limited.
  • All bookings made under this online advance discount offer are non-refundable and non-transferable.
